IRC Setup for GAIM

KPLUG IRC Setup for GAIM

I will assume that you have GAIM set up for handling ICQ/MSN or whatever your favorite IM is.
I am showing the setup for GAIM version 0.63
Your milage may vary. I think earlier versions required a download for the ICQ plugin protocol, but it's been a long time so maybe not.

From the main window select Tools-Accounts.

I blanked out the Screen name / ICQ # here but you should have something similar to this.
Click on the Add button.

Choose your Screenname, and set the Server to irc.freenode.net
You can opt for Auto-Login or not at this point.

If you did not choose Auto-login you can toggle it's mode here
If you do not have auto-login set you will have to return to this screen and select Online before using IRC.

From the main window again select Buddies-Join a Chat
You end up with this screen. You may need to pull down the Joun Chat As selection list, and then enter #kplug into the Channel: text box.

And voila you are chatting in the KPLUG channel.
