XChat Setup
for KPLUG on IRC
When starting XChat for the first time you are presented with a dialog box for choosing an IRC server. If you already have xchat running you can select X-Chat from the menu and then select Server List
Change the Nicknames you wish to be known as in the channel. You are Given 3 names because if someone else is already using that nickname in any of the IRC channels, you can not use that same name. Make your choice something that other KPLUG members will recognize. And type in your REAL name in the spot provided. I also recommend checking the No ServerList on startup checkbox
Next we are going to set up a user menu to automate the server selection and IRC channel #KPLUG. I'm lazy, I prefer to start XChat, and select KPLUG from my User Menu, and have all the work done for me. Here's how to do it. From the User Menu, select Edit User Menu..
When the User Menu Dialog Box opens click on the Add New Button. It will place a "*NEW*" entry in the list for you.
Using the Edit boxes on the bottom, change the label from *NEW* to KPLUG, and change the Command from EDIT ME to the command listed below.

Following my Lazy Premise, I don't want to have to search for my new KPLUG
entry when I select User Menu, So... Keep clicking on the Move Up button until
the KPLUG menu option is at the top.
Now you should be all set up, so that when you start XChat, you can Open up the User Menu and Select KPLUG from the top of the List. This puts you into KPLUG's IRC Channel. KPLUG's IRC channel is the place to go when you need to talk to a senior KPLUG member about any issue, and playing email tag doesn't work for you. Consult our homepage for scheduled meeting times. If we get enough interest from our members, I'm sure our senior admins will be happy to set up a more frequent schedule to be on call for questions.
