This is the updated setup for XChat version 2

Your initial (first time startup) screen looks like this

The configuration defaults to sane nicknames, change as desired.

Next we need to find the proper server. KPLUG is homed at irc.freenode.net
To simplify login later check the "No server list on startup" option.

Next we will want to automate the channel login so click on the "Edit Mode" option, and enter #kplug in the "Join Channels:" input field.

Finally click the Connect button and your finished.

This is also the startup screen for subsequent launching of XChat.
